Smart business models and ecosystem with supercomputers

Digitalia is a joint research center of the University of Applied Sciences of South-East Finland (XAMK), the University of Helsinki and the National Archives. Digitalia needed consulting in planning a business model for Memory Lab ecosystem, a high-performance computing and data economy initiative based on computing center investment.

Our engagement

The goal for the project was to increase understanding of the service potential of high-performance computing. What could supercomputers provide for industries like food, water, forestry and wellbeing?

Besides big data management, these computers are useful for virtual and augmented reality. The results were important for future Memory Lab investment decisions. The key thing was to find services provided by the ecosystem. How to attract visitors, companies, and organizations  to Eastern Finland?

Lessons learned

Our team was also able to connect to the target industry needs.

Deep understanding was important to confirm results with potential customers and partners.  

The client has since secured successfully funding for the huge investment. They have also started several follow-up projects with ecosystem partners.
