KONE and Tampere University

Osaango, Tampere University and KONE co-created a free academic online course about API economy. The course is a university Master's level course. It is meant for people who have not encountered API Economy as a business model before, even if they had some knowledge of APIs as technology. After taking this course, a student will be able to think about API and Platform Economies as possibilities for his/her own or his/her customers' business models. The course is now available also in Chinese and German.

Our students say that the course has changed how they think and work:

• They are now better at providing service to their customers,

• They have tons of new ideas related to their ongoing projects

• Their thinking about APIs as just a technical thing has been transformed

“Utilising APIs, we can move beyond our core offering and provide holistic smart building solutions for our customers. Together with our customers, we can build entirely new solutions, link different digital platforms together, and create new experiences for equipment end-users” says Olli Kilpeläinen, KONE’s Global Head of Ecosystem Program.
